Welcome to our newest artist Lee Foster-Wilson

WELCOME to our newest artist, Cornwall-based illustrator, LEE FOSTER-WILSON. Lee’s work observes the relationship of people to nature and to each other.

Often inspired by the coastal landscape she lives in, Lee grew up with a menagerie of animals and riding horses and swimming in the sea. Lee often uses weird & wonderful celestial and mystical symbols within her work. Lee has steadily built her successful brand Bonbi Forest over the past 15 years, as featured in Vogue, Elle Deco, Grazia, and The Guardian.

“I was attracted to Lee’s thoughtful use of words and rich colours. There is also a strong illustrative nature within her work; narrative, pattern, characters, and text. We love her colour palette with a rich array of jewel colours and tonal combinations. From picture books to editorial, from homewares to activity books, Lee’s work is suitable for a wide range of uses. And importantly it is instantly recognisable as hers. We are thrilled to work with such exciting talent. Lee’s work is already attracting significant interest with our clients across the industry” Jehane Boden Spiers

We will be extending the reach of Lee’s illustration work. We will be building a licensing program spanning publishing and surface pattern. Lee Foster-Wilson’s love of research is ideal for commissioned based work.

Q & A - We asked Lee Foster-Wilson to share her thoughts…

What kind of work do you like doing the most? "Anything that has an element of research to it, whether that’s learning how a leaf should be shaped or how people interact with each other."

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? "If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got"

What attracted you to work with Jehane? “Her experience and friendliness coupled with the gorgeous work of her artists!”

What made you want to become an artist ? “Probably my family. We had paintings that my grandfather did around the house when I was growing up, my aunt is still a working fine artist, my uncle is a musician and my parents both used to make and sell kids furniture and paint murals before starting other businesses...it’s in the blood it seems! Growing up around so many people forging their own path, working for themselves and doing what they love most as a job was very inspiring”

Will you share a fun fact about you? “I am named after my Chinese great-grandfather – the only thing we know about him is that he was called Mr Lee and was a sailor. My great grandmother had a dalliance when his ship docked at Liverpool in the 1920’s!

It was great to meet Lee personally at our first Summer Social last weekend. We are delighted to welcome Lee to the Jehane Ltd family.
