Jehane Ltd Summer Social 2019

SUMMER SOCIAL 2019 - Last weekend we enjoyed our inaugural Summer Social. It was a key milestone for our new agency which has a focus on representing artists personally. We invited all of our artists to join us on a Sussex Cultural Adventure.

We took time to connect and exchange ideas. We visited the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne, we took in the countryside of the South Downs, made creative plans, and talked about projects we are working on behind-the-scenes. We are thrilled to see that it has already inspired new sketches and ideas as a result of conversations we shared around the kitchen table.

“ It’s important to me to connect with the artists that I represent personally. My background is as a professional textile designer. So why did I become an artist’s agent and set up my own agency? I am inspired by an interest in people and a deep curiosity around creative ideas. It has such a positive impact to connect outside of the realms of digital & social media, in both our personal and professional lives. It’s where the magic happens!” Jehane Boden Spiers

Jehane’s partner Richard Beales treated us to a tour of the Towner Gallery. In his previous role as Head of Outreach & Education at the Towner Gallery (2000-2011), our artists were able to gain a unique insight into the life of the Towner and a major move to its current new building. Richard also drove the mini-bus through Ravilious countryside and we took in the sights of the Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Haven. Just in time for a cream tea in a hidden-gem of an English cottage in the gardens of the Downs.

A huge thanks to Richard for a special tour of Towner and for driving us all around the Sussex countryside!

We drove through Eric Ravilious country and took in the sights of Cuckmere Haven & Seven Sisters.

The private collection of Towner includes Grayson Perry’s «Map of Nowhere» and a dedicated Eric Ravilious room. It was a treat to delve into the many books from John Ruskin’s drawings to Peggy Angus’ wallpaper designs.

« We talked, we laughed, we made plans, we saw wonderful art at the Towner Gallery and we ate, boy did we eat - afternoon tea, curry, nibbles, cheese ( oh, the cheese! ) and breakfast at Bills! » Ali Brookes
