ARTIST - TOP ART AGENT - CREATIVE ENTREPENEUR
My Story
“Jehane’s not just an agent, she’s an artist, a friend & a visionary as well’ - Margo Tantau
ARTIST
With over thirty years experience, I gained a BA (Hons) in Textile Design (Printed Textiles) at Winchester School of Art in 1994. With an interest in literature and a flair for colour, I was one of the first designers to use quotes and hand-writing in surface pattern inspiring a trend still popular today. Winning a competition to have my work published as an undergraduate was a pivotal point in my career; my ‘Shakespeare’ design became an international best-selling range for Gallery Five, London. Quickly followed by ‘The Language of Flowers’, ‘Composers’ and ‘Streetwise’. I have licensed hundreds of my own designs all over the world including Great British Card Company, Stewo, Apple Arcade, and Sanderson Fabrics.
“I am inspired by colour and conversations.”
CLOTH OF GOLD
I moved to Vienna as a graduate to work in-house for Affabre Textile Design creating designs for Furnishing & Fashion fabrics. Returning to Brighton in 1996, I established a successful freelance career selling my work under both my own name and ‘Cloth of Gold’. I licensed my designs to industry; exhibited in galleries nationally, and supplied hand-made products to retail outlets including Liberty, English Heritage, & Royal Shakespeare Company. My one-off embroidered wall-hangings are in private collections all over the world. My design work has been featured on BBC TV and London Underground posters. I have given many talks about my art including at the V&A.
“Jehane’s embroideries are antiques of the future”
ARTISTS’ AGENT & JEHANE LTD
My role as an Art Agent began in 2004; showing artwork by the artists I admired to my own clients. I have since personally represented leading artists such as Paul Thurlby and Cressida Bell and heritage collections such as Glasgow Museums. I founded my Illustration Agency Jehane Ltd in 2018 with a vision to be the most imaginative, most alive, and most loved Artist’s Agency. We exclusively represent twenty exceptional artists around the world and our clients include Museums & Galleries, Chronicle Books, LEGO, Walker Books, Scholastic, The National Trust, Harper Collins, Penguin Random House, Bonnier Books & many more. I am renowned for my exceptional eye and talent for developing new creative concepts with artists and clients.
“Jehane is inspired by cultivating relationships and creating beautiful art - it is this mentality which makes her such a well respected and sought-after agent.”
CREATIVE EDUCATOR
I have supported hundreds of emerging and established artists with my ground-breaking online class ‘Your Creative Gold’, one-to-one portfolio reviews, and transformational Instagram challenges; Jehane’s Twelve Days of Christmas & Jehane’s Golden Thread. I am regularly invited to share my knowledge at key industry events including for Bonnie Christine, Stacey Bloomfield, Sarah Watts, The Design Trust, and Margo Tantau. My approach is positive and purposeful with a strong aesthetic analysis and focus on the individual. Many of the artists I have worked with have gone on to sign agents, achieve higher consistency in their work, and gain the confidence to elevate their work to the next level. Make sure you’re on my e-mail list to receive details of events and future opportunities for artists. It’s pure gold!
“The way Jehane works with artists and her own creativity is so inspirational.”
CURATOR
I first opened my home in 2002 to exhibit my work as part of the Brighton Festival. ‘Jehane’s Artist Open House’ has featured in The Independent, BBC Homes & Antiques, Evening Standard, and The Spectator. HOW TO PRONOUNCE JEHANE
I truly don’t mind how you say my name but, in case you are curious, I hope this helps.
Pronounced with a soft J as in the french Je suis or Je t’aime and a soft ah sound as in Hane (rhymes with Yarn). The e is silent. The history books say Joan of Arc was called Jehane.
