Illustration agency celebrating further licensing deals heading into 2020.

Illustration agency Jehane is celebrating the end of a strong 2019, which it is hoping to emulate in 2020 with a number of new deals.

First up for the agency – which is headed up by artist and business manager, Jehane Boden Spiers – in the new year are two exclusive stationery ranges with UK partner, Museums & Galleries.

Alphabets by Ernest Michael Dinkel sees the very first licensing deal for this heritage art brand. The artist’s work encompassed watercolour and oil painting, graphic and mural design, glass engraving and lettering. The range has been adapted from a unique archive of Ernest’s hand-drawn alphabets.

The MGML range will cover all stationery products with its lead design Kingfisher (pictured) paving the way for future design expansions.

Meanwhile, Wild Press by Sussex-based artist Helen Ahpornsiri is a unique range of stationery also launching in January, exclusive to MGML. Helen’s images are made by hundreds of leaves and flowers with traditional flower-pressing methods.

Her lead design – entitled Pteridomania – is the featured illustration for the 2020 cover of the Museums & Galleries catalogue.

Meanwhile, Jehane is continuing to develop its niche in children’s book publishing.

Published by Zahori Books, foreign rights for Pets & their Famous Humans has already sold into eight languages. Illustrated by leading agency talent, Katherine Quinn, calendar rights have been snapped up by teNeues (Germany), while publisher Ice House Books (UK) will be announcing its own licence relating to the property in 2020.

Lastly, one of the agency’s books, illustrated by Canadian artist Meghann Rader, The House That Cleaned Itself: The True Story of Frances Gabe’s (Mostly) Marvellous Inventions – has also been awarded as one of the Best Stem Books for 2020 by the NSTA (National Science and Teachers Association) and CBC (Children’s Book Council) Published by The Innovation Press

“2019 has indeed been a year of significant growth and development for my agency. It’s highly rewarding to play an active part in bringing high calibre content to audiences. I am going into 2020 with an ever-more-specific understanding of my personal criteria and vision. I’m proud of how far we have come and what we have achieved this year. Of particular interest and historical merit in 2020 will be the official launch of our collaboration with the Estate of Ernest Michael Dinkel (Alphabets) and Museums & Galleries. I am delighted with Licensing Source’s feature. I will continue to be working hard to make art work in 2020”
